Hua Hin Golf | Planning
The Thai golf experience
isn't a power golf trip, and it isn't for everyone. It's a personal
adventure into another culture, using golf as a vehicle for shared experience.
As with any adventure, you will experience a marked departure from the
familiar. The trick is in knowing what to expect and planning accordingly.

Jet
lag. There is
a 12-15 hour time difference if you are coming from the US or Canada.
Compensate for it by drinking plenty of water (and limit your alcohol)
while flying--and move around the cabin of the plane often. Try to nap
on the plane--and plan to nap after lunch or before dinner for the first
day or two after you arrive.
Water.
We are in a Tropical
environment, water is a necessity. Gatorade and other sport drinks are
available on the courses but we recommend cool, refreshing water. Your
body will need two to three liters a day. But if you don’t have
the habit of drinking water your body does not efficiently use it now.
Please, start to consume more water in preparation for you trip so your
body is ready. Dehydration is sometimes a problem for us here, especially
with people coming from colder destinations.
Cigarettes.
They are a fact of life in Europe and Asia, and since most of the visitors
are from those areas. Smoking is usually not a problem, but you should
be aware it is considered quite acceptable. If smoking is a big problem
for you, please try to plan you dinning carefully. It is not uncommon
to have no non-smoking areas in restaurants.
Weather.
It’s a tropical environment, plan accordingly. Please don’t
ruin your vacation with sunburn, pace yourself in the sun. We’ve
had customers book a holiday with us, way in advance, take the long
flight and promptly take their shirt off on the beach—red as a lobster. Recovery time about 7 to 10 days!
Great Holiday, no Hua Hin golf for you, thanks for coming and see you next year. Check the seasonal temps here.
Handicap.
It is desirable, but not essential, to supply us with your handicap
or approximate skill level before departure.
Dress. You will be wearing shorts most of the time. Don’t over pack,
you don’t need to bring your whole wardrobe. There are many places
here to buy knock off clothes for a good price. Don’t worry; almost
everything you need is here. Our advice, pack what you think you need,
then cut it in half, but bring the suitcases anyway to bring back all
your goodies. Recite this mantra: Tickets, Passport, Money! Tickets,
Passport, Money! Hua Hin Golf ! Hua Hin Golf! Kick your slippers together and you will be here! Then you don’t have to think of another thing,
because if you forget something, there is a 99% chance you can get it
here.
Bottled
water. It's available
everywhere and tastes great.
Electrical
conveniences.
A laptop with a dual power supply and a wall socket plug adapter will
work well in Hua Hin. Most cell phones are incompatible with Thai networks.
Ask your wireless service provider before packing yours--and be aware
of battery charging issues! Hair dryers and other small electrical appliances
will not work in Hua HIn at all, unless equipped with a dual power
supply. |
